Sonja Macys, a member of City Council, wrote an article in the March 2019 issue of the Valley Voice. Part of the article describes the “742 units in the development pipeline.”

Here are two paragraphs from the article that outlines the unit types and goes on to say “But I’ll hazard a guess that, even so, many people have no idea that this amount of growth is imminent.”

Here are two paragraphs from the article:

“As I write this article, there are 742 units in the development pipeline. That is to say that 416 multi-family, 265 subdivision, and 61 mixed use units are either being proposed, already approved, or under construction. That does not include the 450 units proposed in the West Steamboat Neighborhoods annexation (aka Brynn Grey). Anybody can probably tell you about “the annexation.” But how many are aware that the annexation reflects just under 38% of what may be built in the near future?

We stand to increase our inventory by approximately 12% if all projects go through. I am not picking on these projects. They have all gone through the development process, which is a public process. But I’ll hazard a guess that, even so, many people have no idea that this amount of growth is imminent. And to layer on even more, consider how we are building out recreation trails with 2A funds.”
